My lessons began with Victoria out of a need to learn Spanish in order to complete research for my PhD. When I started with her, I had been learning Spanish for two years both independently and with another teacher, and had spent a month in Spain doing a language course. Nonetheless, I still felt that my level needed to dramatically improve before I spend an extended period of time in Spain from January 2012. And improved it has. As a result of Victoria’s patience, dedication and skill as a teacher, I feel that my level of conversation, reading/writing and comprehension has markedly increased. Furthermore, Victoria has allowed me to tailor our sessions to suit my academic needs, while keeping an eye on key areas such as grammar and pronunciation. Due to Victoria’s tuition, I now feel that my level is on the way to being sufficient enough for my research purposes and, rather than being daunted, I am excited at the prospect of enhancing my skills when I arrive in Spain. I would highly recommend Victoria to anyone interested in learning Spanish, at any level.

Victoria really cares about my progress

"I began having lessons with Victoria over a year ago before a trip to Latin America. She helped me prepare for my trip when I spoke virtually no Spanish and since my return has reassessed my level and continued to support me at a more intermediate level. She is an excellent teacher in every way but having used lots of different teachers whilst away what I appreciate most is how I always feel Victoria really cares about my progress and gives me her full attention at all times, encouraging me in a positive way and being extremely patient even when I am being quite trying (which I often am!). She is warm, flexible, supportive and passionate about helping her students as well as being good at all the practical aspects of teaching. I can not recommend her more highly."

Victoria is a very amiable native speaker and excellent professional tutor offering bespoke one-to-one training tailored to your own requirements, goals and abilities. I particularly appreciate the flexibility of being able to schedule sessions to suit work and home commitments. Departing from the traditional textbook regime, her approach of employing alternative types of media not only facilitates an improved understanding of both the written and oral aspects of the modern language but also the native culture and current issues affecting Spain today.

¨ I have been taking Spanish lessons from Victoria for seven months now. I had been learning Spanish for nearly two years before, using courses and other material from the Internet, and particularly wanted to improve my listening and speaking skills. I met up with Victoria for the initial free lesson over a coffee and she was able to assess my current level of Spanish and decide on the best way forward to meet my objectives. Since then I have enjoyed weekly lessons in a relaxed and friendly environment which have helped me greatly to improve my Spanish. I can thoroughly recommend Victoria as a teacher. Not only does she have a great knowledge of the Spanish language as a native speaker but she also knows a great deal about Spanish culture, traditions and food in particular and enlivens the lessons with much additional interesting information. I now feel that fluency in Spanish is within my grasp and if I eventually achieve that it will be due in no small part to Victoria¨ .
